Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from Tajima City center and head south on Route 9. Follow the signs for the Tottori Expressway and merge onto it. Continue for approximately 30 km until you reach the interchange for the Chuo Expressway. Take the Chuo Expressway towards Tokyo. After about 1.5 hours, take Exit 4 for Haneda. Follow the signs for Setagaya City. Once you reach Setagaya, use a GPS navigation system to guide you to 4 Chome-10-1 Kitakarasuyama, Setagaya City, where Genryō-in is located. Note that parking may be limited near the temple, so plan accordingly.

    If you prefer public transportation, start by taking the train from Tajima Station. Board the JR San'in Line towards Kinosaki Onsen and transfer at Fukuchiyama Station to the JR Takarazuka Line. From there, take the train towards Osaka and transfer at Umeda Station to the JR Kyoto Line. Get off at Shinagawa Station and transfer to the JR Yamanote Line towards Shibuya. Get off at Shibuya Station and take the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line to Sangenjaya Station. From Sangenjaya, it is a 15-minute walk to Genryō-in.
