The museum's collection comprises approximately 2,500 works across various genres, including Nihonga painting, oil painting, calligraphy, and photography. A significant portion of the collection consists of donations from artists and their families who have a connection to Kichijōji. The museum also features the Yozo Hamaguchi and Hideo Hagiwara Memorial Rooms, which showcase the copperplate prints of Yozo Hamaguchi and the woodblock prints of Hideo Hagiwara. These exhibits are rotated every three months or so, often according to seasonal themes. In addition to its permanent collection, the Kichijōji Art Museum hosts four to five special exhibitions each year, featuring works from its collection and other special shows. The museum also serves as a Citizen's Gallery in July, November, and March, providing a platform for local residents to showcase their artistic creations.
