Getting There

  • Train

    From Tokyo Station, take the Yamanote Line (green line) towards Ikebukuro. Travel for about 15 minutes and get off at Sugamo Station. Once you exit the station, take the North Exit. You will see a shopping street called 'Sugamo Jizo-dori' right in front of you. Walk straight along this street for about 10 minutes, and you will reach Shinshōji Temple on your left at 3 Chome-21-21 Sugamo.

  • Subway

    If you are near Shinjuku, take the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line (red line) from Shinjuku Station towards Ikebukuro. Get off at Korakuen Station (about 10 minutes). Transfer to the Toei Mita Line and take a train towards Sugamo Station (about 5 minutes). Once you arrive at Sugamo Station, take the North Exit and walk straight along Sugamo Jizo-dori for about 10 minutes to reach Shinshōji Temple on your left.

  • Bus

    From Ikebukuro Station, head to the west exit and find the bus terminal. Take the Toei Bus bound for 'Sugamo Station' (Bus No. 61). The bus ride will take approximately 20 minutes. Get off at the Sugamo Station stop. From there, take the North Exit and walk straight for about 10 minutes along Sugamo Jizo-dori to reach Shinshōji Temple.
