After arriving at the Medeu area, continue on the road until you reach the last parking lot before the trailhead. From there, prepare for a 4 km hike to the waterfall. Note that the last stretch of the road may be rough, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended.

To reach Butakovskiy waterfall via public transportation, take a bus from Almaty city center to Medeu. Buses such as routes 6 or 12 frequently head to the Medeu area. Once you arrive, you can either walk to the last parking lot or hire a local taxi to take you closer to the trailhead. Remember that the last part of the route will require you to hike approximately 4 km to the waterfall.
