If you're traveling by car from Elgeyo Escarpment, take the A1 road heading west towards Kisumu. After approximately 70 km, turn left onto the B1 highway towards Kakamega. Continue on the B1 for about 25 km. As you approach Kakamega Town, look for signs indicating Kakamega Forest National Reserve. The entrance is located at the coordinates 0.364203, 34.8572219. There may be a small entrance fee to access the reserve.

Public Transportation
To reach Kakamega Forest National Reserve using public transportation, start by taking a matatu (shared taxi) from any town in Elgeyo Escarpment to Kakamega Town. The journey usually costs around 200-300 KES and takes about 2-3 hours. Once in Kakamega Town, you can take another matatu to the entrance of Kakamega Forest. The fare for this leg of the journey is approximately 50-100 KES. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they are heading toward the forest. The entrance to the reserve is located at 9V74+MV, Lubao.

For the adventurous, biking from Elgeyo Escarpment to Kakamega Forest is an option. This route will take you through scenic landscapes, but be prepared for a long ride of about 90 kilometers.
