Car
If you are traveling by car, start by heading towards Mokowe from your location in North Eastern Province. Depending on your starting point, you may need to take the C103 road to connect to the Lamu Road (C112). Follow the C112 highway until you reach Mokowe. From Mokowe, take a ferry to Lamu Island. Ferries operate regularly, and the cost is approximately 200-500 KES per person depending on the ferry type. Once you arrive at the Lamu Island harbor, walk towards Faza Kenyatta Rd, which is a short distance from the dock. The museum is located along this road.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, board a matatu (shared taxi) heading to Mokowe from major towns in North Eastern Province. The fare to Mokowe will vary from 300 to 600 KES based on your starting location. Once you arrive at Mokowe, you will need to take a ferry to Lamu Island; the ferry fare is approximately 200-500 KES per person. After disembarking at Lamu, follow the path towards Faza Kenyatta Rd, where the museum is located.

If you are already on Lamu Island, the Lamu Museum is accessible by foot. From the harbor, walk towards the main street, and then head towards Faza Kenyatta Rd. The museum is located along this road, and it should take about 10-15 minutes to walk there from the harbor area.
