Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Thakhek, head south on the main road, Khanthabouly Road. Continue walking for about 1 km until you reach the Mekong River. At the riverfront, turn left and follow the riverbank for another 500 meters. You will come across several local shops and food stalls. Keep an eye out for signs pointing towards Wat Trai Mit as you get closer. After about 500 meters of walking along the river, you should see the entrance to Wat Trai Mit on your right side.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from any rental shop in Thakhek. Start from the center of town and cycle south along Khanthabouly Road. Continue for about 1.5 km until you reach the Mekong River. Turn left at the river and ride along the riverbank for approximately 1 km. Look for signs or locals directing you to Wat Trai Mit, which will appear on your right after another 300 meters of cycling.

  • Tuk-tuk

    Find a tuk-tuk at one of the popular spots in Thakhek, such as near the bus station or the night market. Tell the driver you want to go to Wat Trai Mit. The ride should take about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver will know the location, but it's good to mention that it is near the Mekong River, just south of the main town area. Once you arrive, you will see the temple entrance.
