Walking
From the center of Bar Harbor, start at the Village Green, which is located at 33 Mount Desert Street. Head west on Mount Desert Street toward Main Street. Continue straight for about 0.2 miles until you reach the intersection with West Street. Turn left onto West Street and walk for about 0.3 miles. You'll see the entrance to the Bar Island Trail on your right, just before the bridge leading to Bar Island.
Biking
If you have rented a bike, start from the Village Green at 33 Mount Desert Street. Head west on Mount Desert Street for approximately 0.2 miles. Turn left onto West Street and bike for about 0.3 miles. The Bar Island Trail entrance will be on your right, just before the bridge. The bike ride is scenic and allows you to enjoy the beautiful views of the harbor.
Public Transportation (Shuttle)
Take the Island Explorer shuttle bus from any of the designated stops in Bar Harbor. Board the bus heading toward the 'Bar Harbor Village' route. Ask the driver to let you off at the West Street stop. From there, it’s a short walk of about 0.1 miles back along West Street to the entrance of the Bar Island Trail, which will be on your right before the bridge.
