If you are in the center of Kennebunkport, start by heading east on Main Street towards Dock Square. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Route 9. Turn left onto Route 9 and walk for about 0.5 miles. You will see signs for the Kennebunkport River on your left. Keep walking until you reach the bus stop for the Downeaster train service. Take the Downeaster train to Portland, which will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Portland station, exit the station and walk for about 10 minutes. Head south on Franklin Street, then turn left onto Congress Street. Continue straight until you reach 7 Congress Square, where the Portland Museum of Art is located.

From the center of Kennebunkport, start at the Kennebunk River. Rent a bike from a local rental shop, then head east on the Kennebunk River Trail. Follow the trail for about 1 mile until it merges with Route 9. Continue on Route 9 for another 0.5 miles until you reach the bus stop for the Downeaster train service. Take the train to Portland. After arriving at the Portland train station, bike south on Franklin Street for about 0.5 miles, then turn left onto Congress Street. Continue biking until you arrive at 7 Congress Square, where the Portland Museum of Art is located.

From Kennebunkport, walk to the nearest bus stop located at Dock Square. Board the local shuttle bus that connects Kennebunkport to Wells. Once you reach Wells, transfer to the bus heading to Portland. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. When you arrive in Portland, get off at the nearest stop to Congress Square, then walk a short distance south on Franklin Street, turn left onto Congress Street, and you will find the Portland Museum of Art at 7 Congress Square.
