If you are starting from the Massachusetts State House at 24 Beacon St, Boston, MA 02133, exit the State House and head south on Beacon Street towards Park Street. After about a 5-minute walk, turn left onto Joy Street. Continue down Joy Street for about 0.3 miles and you will reach the Black Heritage Trail at 46 Joy St, Boston, MA 02114. The walk is pleasant and showcases the historic architecture of Beacon Hill.

If you are near the Charles Street area, walk to the Charles/MGH subway station. Take the Red Line inbound towards Ashmont/Braintree. Get off at Park Street Station after 1 stop. From there, exit the station and walk north on Tremont Street for about 5 minutes until you reach Beacon Street. Turn right and continue to Joy Street. Walk down Joy Street for about 0.2 miles to reach the Black Heritage Trail at 46 Joy St, Boston, MA 02114. Note: The subway fare is $2.40 for a single trip.
