Walking
From the New Bedford Whaling Museum, head north on Union Street towards the intersection with William Street. Turn left on William Street and walk straight until you reach the waterfront. Continue onto the pier, and follow the signs to the ferry terminal. Take the ferry to Newport, Rhode Island. Once you arrive in Newport, exit the ferry terminal and walk north on America's Cup Avenue. Continue straight, and you will reach Washington Square in about 15 minutes. The Old Colony House is located at the center of the square.

Public Transport
Start at the New Bedford Bus Terminal located at 1342 Purchase Street. Take the Peter Pan Bus Lines to Newport, RI. The journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive at the Newport Bus Terminal, walk north on America's Cup Avenue for about 15 minutes until you reach Washington Square. The Old Colony House is located in the square.

Bicycle
If you have a bicycle, you can ride from New Bedford to Newport. Start by heading east on Purchase Street until you reach the waterfront. Take the scenic route along the coast by following the bike path along the harbor. You will connect with East Bay Bike Path, which leads you directly toward Bristol and eventually to Newport. Upon arriving in Newport, bike north to America's Cup Avenue and continue to Washington Square. The Old Colony House will be on your left once you enter the square.
