    If you are in downtown New Bedford, start at the New Bedford Whaling Museum located at 18 Johnny Cake Hill. Head northeast on Johnny Cake Hill toward Union St. Turn left onto Union St and continue straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Route 18. Cross Route 18 and continue straight onto the pedestrian path leading to the ferry terminal. Look for signs for the ferry to Newport, Rhode Island. Once you arrive in Newport, exit the ferry terminal and head east on America’s Cup Ave. Continue straight, then turn left onto Touro St. The Touro Synagogue will be on your right at 85 Touro St.

    From the New Bedford City Hall bus terminal, take the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus number 60 towards Newport. The bus will take you directly to Newport. After arriving in Newport, disembark at the Newport Gateway Center. Walk east on America’s Cup Ave towards the waterfront, then take a left on Touro St. Walk straight for several blocks, and the Touro Synagogue will be on your right at 85 Touro St.

    If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike in New Bedford. Start from the New Bedford Bike Share station near the waterfront. Head north on the bike path following the coastline. Continue on the bike path for approximately 12 miles until you reach Newport.
