Car
If you are traveling by car, you can start your journey from the city of Campeche. Take the Carretera 180 (also known as the Federal Highway 180) heading southeast. Continue driving on this road for approximately 90 kilometers until you reach the junction with Carretera 186. Turn left onto Carretera 186 and continue for about 40 kilometers until you see signs for Calakmul. Follow the signs to the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve and keep driving for another 20 kilometers until you reach the entrance of the reserve. Note that there is an entrance fee of around 60 MXN per person to access the reserve. Once inside, follow the signs to Estructura La Gran Plaza, which is located approximately 18 kilometers from the reserve entrance.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Campeche to the town of Xpujil, which serves as the nearest access point to Calakmul. Buses leave from the Campeche bus terminal and the journey takes about 2-3 hours. Once in Xpujil, you will need to hire a taxi or a collective van to take you to the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve. The taxi ride will take approximately 45 minutes, and it usually costs around 500-600 MXN. Upon entering the reserve, be prepared to pay an entrance fee of approximately 60 MXN per person. After paying, continue following the signs to Estructura La Gran Plaza, which is about 18 kilometers from the reserve entrance.
