If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Nkhata Bay, which is a common entry point to Lake Niassa. From Nkhata Bay, head south on the M5 road, following the signs towards Nkhotakota. Continue along this road, enjoying the scenic views of Lake Niassa. After approximately 90 km, look for the turnoff to a small ferry terminal at the village of Chitimba. This is where you will park your car securely, as vehicles are not allowed on Chizumulu Island. The parking fee at the terminal may vary, so be prepared with some Malawian Kwacha. From Chitimba, you will need to take a boat to Chizumulu Island.
