If you are starting from the Windhoek City Centre, head south on Robert Mugabe Avenue. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Independence Avenue. Turn left onto Independence Avenue and walk for about 10 minutes. You'll pass several shops and cafes along the way. After approximately 1 km, you will see a fork; take the right fork onto 5th Street. Continue until you reach the next intersection, then turn left onto Tal Street. Finally, walk straight until you arrive at Alte Feste, which will be on your right.

From the Windhoek City Centre, walk to the nearest bus stop on Independence Avenue. Look for buses that have 'Klein Windhoek' as their destination. Board the bus and ride for about 15 minutes. Ask the driver to let you know when you reach the stop closest to Alte Feste. When you disembark, head towards Tal Street and walk for about 5 minutes to reach the museum.
