Getting There

  • Walking from Boudhanath Stupa

    Start at Boudhanath Stupa, one of the most iconic landmarks in Kathmandu. Head south on Boudhanath Stupa Road for about 500 meters until you reach the main highway (Ring Road). Cross the highway to reach the bus station. From the bus station, catch a local bus heading towards Budhanilkantha. The fare is usually around NPR 30. After a 30-minute ride, get off at the Budhanilkantha stop. From there, it's about a 20-minute walk to Pullahari Monastery. Walk north along the main road, then turn left onto the road leading to the monastery. Follow the signs to Pullahari Monastery.

  • Walking from Thamel

    If you are starting from Thamel, walk towards the Ratna Park area and find the bus station. Take a local bus heading to Budhanilkantha. The bus ride will take approximately 40 minutes. Once you arrive at Budhanilkantha, follow the same directions as above: exit the bus, walk north along the main road, and turn left onto the road leading to Pullahari Monastery. It will take about 20 minutes to walk to the monastery from the bus stop.

  • Walking from Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple)

    From Swayambhunath, walk down towards the main road and find a local bus to Budhanilkantha. The journey will take around 30 minutes. After getting off at Budhanilkantha, head north along the main road and take a left onto the road that leads to Pullahari Monastery. The walk will take about 20 minutes. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to the monastery.
