Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major city in the Mid-Hills region, such as Kathmandu or Pokhara. From Kathmandu, take the Prithvi Highway (also known as the Kathmandu-Pokhara Highway). Drive approximately 30 km to reach the Kulekhani area. Look for signs directing you to Kulekhani Reservoir. Once you arrive in Kulekhani, follow local roads to the J544+V38 Hydropower Reservoir. The reservoir is well-marked, and you can use GPS navigation for precise directions.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, head to the bus station in Kathmandu. Look for a bus heading towards Daman or Bhandar. The buses usually depart frequently throughout the day. Tell the driver or conductor that you want to get off at Kulekhani. The bus journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Kulekhani, you can either walk to the reservoir or hire a local taxi for a short ride. The taxi fare should be negotiated beforehand, typically around NPR 300-500.
Walking
If you prefer to walk from Kulekhani to Indra Sarovar, it's a scenic trek of about 2-3 km. Follow the path that leads to the reservoir, which is easily identifiable. The route is mostly flat and offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills and water. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, as there may be limited facilities along the way.
