Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car from Poon Hill, first navigate to the nearest main road leading down from Ghorepani. Drive towards Nayapul, which is the main transportation hub. After approximately an hour of driving, turn towards the road leading to Dhampus. Follow this road until you reach the village of Dhampus. From Dhampus, the Australian Base Camp View Point is approximately a 1 to 1.5-hour hike uphill. Park your car in Dhampus and begin your trek.

  To reach the Australian Base Camp View Point using public transportation, start by taking a local bus or jeep from Poon Hill to Nayapul. This journey typically takes about 1-1.5 hours. Upon arriving in Nayapul, switch to a local bus or shared jeep heading to Dhampus. The ride to Dhampus takes about 30-45 minutes. Once in Dhampus, you will need to hike for about 1 to 1.5 hours to reach the Australian Base Camp View Point. Be prepared for a moderately steep trail. Ensure you carry some local currency for bus fares, which can range from 200-500 NPR depending on the distance.

• Hiking

  If you're up for a trek directly from Poon Hill to the Australian Base Camp View Point, you can start your hike early in the morning. Follow the trail that leads down from Poon Hill towards Dhampus. This hike usually takes about 2-3 hours depending on your pace. Ensure you have proper hiking gear and enough water, as the trail can be steep and challenging at times. Upon reaching Dhampus, follow the signs leading to the Australian Base Camp View Point, which is about a 1-hour hike uphill from the village.
