Getting There

Car
If you're driving from North Conway, take NH-16 North. Continue on NH-16 for about 15 miles until you reach the junction with NH-302. Turn left onto NH-302 West and follow it for about 6 miles. You will see signs for Mount Washington. Turn left onto Mount Washington Auto Road, which leads directly to the summit. Be aware that the auto road may have tolls and is open seasonally.

Public Transportation
To visit Mount Washington via public transportation, take a bus to North Conway. From there, you can catch the Mount Washington Auto Road shuttle service, which operates during the peak season. Check the shuttle schedule in advance to plan your trip. The shuttle will take you directly to the base of Mount Washington, from where you can begin your ascent.

If you're coming from Gorham, take US-2 East for about 10 miles. Then turn left onto Pinkham Notch Road (NH-16A) and continue for about 7 miles until you reach the entrance of Mount Washington Auto Road. This road will take you to the summit. Note that the road may be closed in winter, so check conditions before you go.

From Jackson, head west on NH-16. After about 12 miles, you will reach the junction with NH-302. Turn right onto NH-302 and follow it for approximately 6 miles until you see the signs for Mount Washington Auto Road. Turn left onto the Auto Road to ascend to the summit.
