Getting There

  • Bus

    From downtown Ithaca, head to the Tompkins County Public Library bus stop on Green St. Take the TCAT bus route 10 towards the Ithaca College campus. Stay on the bus for about 15 minutes, and get off at the stop closest to the intersection of Route 13 and Coddington Rd. From there, transfer to bus route 11, which heads towards the Northeast. Ride this bus for approximately 10 minutes until you reach the stop at Tibet Drive. Walk a short distance down Tibet Drive, and you will arrive at the Namgyal Monastery Institute of Buddhist Studies.

  • Walking

    If you are in the vicinity of the Cornell University campus, you can walk to Namgyal Monastery. Start at the Uris Library and head south towards E. Avenue. Continue straight to reach the intersection with Route 13. Cross Route 13 carefully, and head onto Coddington Rd. After a short walk, you will find Tibet Drive on your left-hand side. Continue down Tibet Drive, and you will see the monastery at 201 Tibet Dr.

    For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in downtown Ithaca. Begin your ride heading south on Cayuga St. towards E. Seneca St. Turn left onto E. Seneca St., then another left onto N. Tioga St. Follow the road as it turns into Coddington Rd. After about 1 mile, take a right onto Tibet Drive, and you will find the Namgyal Monastery Institute of Buddhist Studies at the end of the road.
