If you're starting from the Devonport Ferry Terminal, exit the terminal and head onto Victoria Road. Walk straight along Victoria Road until you reach the intersection with Church Street. Turn left onto Church Street and continue walking until you reach the end of the street. At the end of Church Street, take a right onto Wairoa Road. Follow Wairoa Road until you reach the junction with Takarunga Road. Turn left onto Takarunga Road, and South Battery will be located at 16 Takarunga Road, just a short walk down the road.

Public Transport
From the Devonport Ferry Terminal, you can take a local bus. Board the bus heading towards Bayswater or Takapuna. Make sure to check the bus schedule as they may vary. Get off at the stop nearest to Takarunga Road. From there, walk down Takarunga Road to reach South Battery at 16 Takarunga Road. The bus fare is approximately NZD 2.50 to NZD 5.00 depending on your travel card.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the local bike rental shops in Devonport. From the rental shop, head towards the waterfront and follow the cycle path along Victoria Road.
