Walking
If you're starting from Devonport village, head south on Victoria Road towards the waterfront. Continue along the waterfront path, enjoying the views of the Waitemata Harbour. After about 15 minutes, you will reach the intersection with Takarunga Road. Turn left onto Takarunga Road and continue walking straight for about 5 minutes. South Battery will be on your right at 16 Takarunga Road.

From the Devonport Ferry Terminal, you can catch the local bus (Route 818) towards North Head. Board the bus and ask the driver to let you know when you reach Takarunga Road. The bus ride takes about 5 minutes. Once you get off, walk a short distance down Takarunga Road, and South Battery will be located at 16 Takarunga Road. Please note that a single bus fare costs approximately NZD 2.50 to NZD 5.00 depending on your travel card.
