Car
If you are driving from Christchurch, take State Highway 1 south and continue to Ashburton. From Ashburton, take State Highway 77 towards Methven. After about 20 minutes, turn onto State Highway 72 and follow it until you reach Geraldine. From Geraldine, continue on State Highway 79 towards Fairlie. Approximately 10 km after Fairlie, look for Rangitata Gorge Road. Turn onto Rangitata Gorge Road and follow it for about 15 km. You will find a parking area near the Big Tree car park which is a great starting point for your hike to Acland Falls.

To reach Acland Falls via public transport, take a bus from Christchurch to Geraldine. Several bus services operate this route. Upon arrival in Geraldine, you can either arrange for a taxi to take you to Rangitata Gorge Road or check for local shuttles that might operate in the area. Please check local bus schedules and availability as they may vary. Once dropped off at Rangitata Gorge Road, the falls are accessible by a short hike from the road.

After parking at the Big Tree car park, follow the marked hiking trail that leads to Acland Falls. The hike is approximately 1.5 km and is considered moderate in difficulty.
