Walking

Start from the Gisborne city center, specifically from the Gisborne i-SITE Visitor Centre located at 1 Grey Street. Head east on Grey Street toward the intersection with Childers Road. Turn left onto Childers Road and continue straight until you reach the roundabout. From the roundabout, take the second exit onto Kaiti Beach Road. Continue walking straight along Kaiti Beach Road for approximately 2 kilometers. You will see signs for the Cook Landing Site National Historic Reserve on your right. The reserve is located directly adjacent to Kaiti Beach, providing a scenic view as you approach.
Bicycle

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the local shops in Gisborne. Start your ride from the Gisborne i-SITE Visitor Centre. Head east on Grey Street toward Childers Road. Turn left onto Childers Road and continue until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Kaiti Beach Road. Follow Kaiti Beach Road for about 2 kilometers. The Cook Landing Site National Historic Reserve will be on your right. Enjoy the ride along the beach!
Public Transport

To reach the Cook Landing Site National Historic Reserve by public transport, take the local bus service that operates within Gisborne. The bus stop closest to the Gisborne i-SITE Visitor Centre is on Grey Street. Check the local bus schedule for routes heading toward Kaiti. You will want to get off at the 'Kaiti Beach' bus stop on Kaiti Beach Road. From there, it is a short walk (approximately 10 minutes) down Kaiti Beach Road to the reserve, which will be on your right.
