Walking
If you are starting from the Gisborne i-SITE Visitor Centre located at 209 Grey Street, head east on Grey Street toward the intersection with Customhouse Street. Turn left onto Customhouse Street and continue until you reach the end of the street where it intersects with the river. Follow the riverside path south, enjoying the views of the Tairāwhiti region. Continue on the path until you reach the end of the river, where you will find the bridge over the Taruheru River. Cross the bridge and follow the path leading up to Titirangi Drive. Once on Titirangi Drive, continue walking straight, keeping an eye out for signage that directs you towards Scenic Picnic Spot. The walk will take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on your pace.

From the Gisborne i-SITE Visitor Centre, walk to the nearest bus stop located on Grey Street. Catch the 'Kaiti' bus which operates regularly throughout the day. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the stop nearest to Titirangi Drive. Once you disembark, you will be within a short walking distance to Scenic Picnic Spot. Follow the signs or ask locals for directions to Titirangi Drive, and you will find the picnic area in approximately 10-15 minutes.
