Walking
Start at the Greymouth Visitor Information Centre located at 100 Mawhera Quay. Exit the centre and head south on Mawhera Quay, walking towards the railway line. After approximately 800 meters, you will reach the bridge over the Grey River. Cross the bridge and continue straight onto Tasman Street. After about 300 meters, turn right onto Cobden Road and follow it for about 1.5 kilometers. This will lead you directly to the Southern Breakwater. Once you reach the end of Cobden Road, the viewing platform will be visible ahead.

Biking
Begin at the Greymouth Visitor Information Centre at 100 Mawhera Quay. Rent a bike if you haven't done so already. Cycle south on Mawhera Quay for about 800 meters until you reach the Grey River bridge. Cross the bridge and continue onto Tasman Street. Follow Tasman Street for about 300 meters, then take a right onto Cobden Road. Pedal along Cobden Road for approximately 1.5 kilometers. You will see signs guiding you to the Southern Breakwater Viewing Platform as you approach.

The closest bus stop to the Southern Breakwater Viewing Platform is located at Cobden Road. Start at the Greymouth Visitor Information Centre and walk to the nearest bus stop on Mawhera Quay. Take Bus Route 1 towards Cobden. Inform the driver that you wish to get off at Cobden Road. After disembarking, walk south along Cobden Road for about 1 kilometer until you see the Southern Breakwater Viewing Platform ahead.
