Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Kaikōura Visitor Centre located at 96 West End, head south on West End towards the ocean. Continue straight onto Beach Road, which will take you along the coastline. After approximately 1.3 kilometers, turn left onto State Highway 1 (SH1). Walk for about 2 kilometers until you reach Kowhai Ford Road. Turn right onto Kowhai Ford Road and walk for another 1.5 kilometers. Kaikōura Llama Trekking will be on your right at 8 Kowhai Ford Road.

  • Biking

    If you have access to a bicycle, you can start at the Kaikōura Visitor Centre. Head south on West End, then take Beach Road along the coast. After about 1.3 kilometers, turn left onto State Highway 1. Continue for approximately 2 kilometers and turn right onto Kowhai Ford Road. Pedal for about 1.5 kilometers, and Kaikōura Llama Trekking will be on your right at 8 Kowhai Ford Road. The bike ride is scenic and relatively flat, making for an enjoyable journey.

Take the bus towards Kaikōura Flat and request to be dropped off near Kowhai Ford Road.
