If you are starting from the Kaikoura town center (for example, near the Kaikoura i-SITE Visitor Centre), head south on West End towards the coast. Continue straight onto Esplanade, which runs parallel to the coastline. After a short walk, you will reach the Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway. Follow the walkway signs, which will guide you along the scenic coastal route. As you walk, enjoy the stunning views and keep an eye out for local wildlife. The Wildlife Refuge is located at the southern end of the peninsula. Look for signs indicating the entrance to the refuge as you approach.

For those looking to bike, rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Kaikoura. Start your journey at the Kaikoura i-SITE Visitor Centre and bike south on West End. When you reach Esplanade, turn left and follow the coastal path. The bike path will lead you to the Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway. Continue along this path, which will take you through scenic views of the ocean until you reach the Wildlife Refuge located at the end of the peninsula.
