Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the Kaikoura i-SITE Visitor Centre located at 36 Aoraki Crescent, head east on Aoraki Crescent until you reach the intersection with the main road, State Highway 1. Cross the highway carefully and continue along the footpath that runs parallel to it. After about 500 meters, you will reach the intersection with Scarborough Street. Turn left onto Scarborough Street and continue walking for approximately 1 km. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Kaikoura Lookout. You will find the lookout is located on your right at 274 Scarborough Street, South Bay.

• Public Transport

  From the Kaikoura i-SITE Visitor Centre, you can take a local bus that services South Bay. Check the local bus schedule for routes heading towards South Bay. Disembark at the stop nearest to Scarborough Street. Once you get off the bus, walk along Scarborough Street, keeping to the right side. The Kaikoura Lookout is located at 274 Scarborough Street, just a few minutes' walk from the bus stop.

• Bicycle

  If you have access to a bicycle, you can rent one from a local shop near the Kaikoura i-SITE Visitor Centre. Head east on Aoraki Crescent, then take a left onto State Highway 1. After about 500 meters, turn left onto Scarborough Street. Continue cycling up Scarborough Street for about 1 km, and you will find Kaikoura Lookout on your right at 274 Scarborough Street, South Bay. Be cautious of traffic and ensure you wear a helmet.
