Car
If you are starting from Queenstown, drive north on State Highway 6 towards Wanaka. Continue on this highway for about 60 kilometers until you reach the town of Wanaka. At Wanaka, turn left onto State Highway 84 and continue towards Makarora. After approximately 50 kilometers, you will reach Makarora. From Makarora, follow signs for the Mount Aspiring National Park and proceed to the Raspberry Flat car park, which is the main access point to the park.

Walking
Starting from the Raspberry Flat car park, follow the marked walking track towards Wills Hut. The track will take you through beautiful native bush and along the Matukituki River. The walk to Wills Hut is approximately 4-5 hours one way, covering around 12 kilometers. Ensure you have proper walking shoes, water, and snacks for the journey. The final stretch of the track may be challenging, with some river crossings, so be prepared.

Public Transport
While there is no direct public transport to Wills Hut, you can take a bus from Queenstown to Wanaka. From Wanaka, you may need to arrange a shuttle service to Makarora, as regular public transport options are limited. Once in Makarora, you can either walk to the Raspberry Flat car park or arrange for a taxi or shuttle to take you there. After reaching Raspberry Flat, follow the walking track to Wills Hut as described above.
