Walking
Start from the New Plymouth city center, specifically at the New Plymouth i-SITE Visitor Centre located at 92-94 Powderham Street. From there, head south on Powderham Street towards the coast. Continue until you reach the intersection with Devon Street where you'll turn right. Follow Devon Street for about 1 km until you reach the coastal walkway. Once you reach the coastal walkway, follow the path to the west towards the Groyne. It is approximately a 2 km walk along the scenic coastal path, and you will know you're getting close when you see the Groyne lighthouse in the distance.

From the New Plymouth city center, head to the nearest bus stop at the New Plymouth i-SITE Visitor Centre. Take the local bus service that heads towards Fitzroy. Check the bus schedule for the specific route that takes you to the Fitzroy Beach area. Get off at the Fitzroy Beach stop, and from there, itâs a short 10-minute walk along the coastal walkway to the Groyne. Simply follow the path west along the coast until you reach the Groyne.
