If you are in the central area of New Plymouth, start by heading east on Devon Street. Continue walking for about 3 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Waiwhakaiho Road. Turn left onto Waiwhakaiho Road and walk for about 1 kilometer. You will see the entrance to Katere Scenic Reserve on your right at 704 Devon Road.

From the New Plymouth Transport Centre, take the number 1 bus towards Bell Block. This bus will take you down Devon Street. Ask the driver to let you know when you reach the stop for Devon Road. From the bus stop, walk about 200 meters east to find the entrance to Katere Scenic Reserve at 704 Devon Road.

If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the rental shops in New Plymouth. Start from the city center and head east on Devon Street. Follow the cycle path along Devon Street for about 3 kilometers until you reach the Waiwhakaiho Road intersection. Turn left onto Waiwhakaiho Road and continue for about 1 kilometer. You will see the entrance to Katere Scenic Reserve on your right at 704 Devon Road.
