If you're traveling by car, start from Kerikeri, which is about 40 minutes away from Russell. Head south on State Highway 10 towards Paihia. Continue on State Highway 11 through Paihia, and then take the ferry from Paihia to Russell. Once you arrive in Russell, follow the main road until you reach Flagstaff Hill Historic Reserve. Look for the signs directing you to the historic site. There is a small parking area at the reserve.

To reach Flagstaff Hill Historic Reserve using public transport, take a bus from Whangarei to Paihia. From Paihia, you can take the passenger ferry to Russell. Once you arrive in Russell, you can either walk or take a taxi to Flagstaff Hill. The walk is about 1.5 km and offers a nice view, but make sure to wear comfortable shoes as the terrain can be steep.
