From the town of Nelson, take State Highway 6 south towards Blenheim. Continue on SH6 for about 90 kilometers until you reach the junction with State Highway 63. Turn right onto SH63 and follow it for approximately 30 kilometers. You will see signs for Nelson Lakes National Park. Take the left turn at the sign that directs you to the park entrance. There are no tolls on this route.

Start your journey at the Nelson Bus Station. Take a bus service heading to St. Arnaud, which is operated by the Nelson Lakes Connection. This service runs several times a day, and you can check the schedule online or at the bus station. The trip takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in St. Arnaud, you will need to take a taxi or arrange for a shuttle service to reach the park entrance, as it is about 10 kilometers from the town.
