Continue on this highway for approximately 20 kilometers until you reach the intersection with State Highway 1. Turn left onto State Highway 1 and follow the signs for Tongariro National Park. After about 10 kilometers, you will see signs directing you to the Mt Tongariro area. Make sure to park at the designated parking areas near the Tongariro Alpine Crossing or at the Mangatepopo car park, which is the main access point for the hike to Mt Tongariro.
