Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the Whakapapa Village, which is a key access point in Tongariro National Park. From Whakapapa Village, head south on State Highway 1. Turn left onto the Turoa Road towards the Turoa Ski Area. After approximately 5 km, look for the sign for the Tama Lakes Track on your left. Park your vehicle at the designated parking area, and then follow the well-marked trailhead for the Tama Lakes Track. The hike to Lower Tama Lake will take about 1-1.5 hours depending on your pace.

For those using public transportation, you can take a shuttle service from Taupo or nearby towns that offer transfers to Tongariro National Park.
