If you're driving to Soda Springs, start from the Tongariro National Park Visitor Centre. Head south on State Highway 1, then take the turnoff for Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Follow the signs to the parking area at the Mangatepopo Road end. The Soda Springs are accessible via the Tongariro Alpine Crossing trail, which starts from this parking area. The drive will take approximately 20 minutes from the Visitor Centre.

For those using public transportation, you can take a shuttle service that operates between various locations in Tongariro National Park and the trailheads for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Book a shuttle to drop you off at the Mangatepopo Road end. From the drop-off point, follow the marked trail towards Soda Springs. The hike to Soda Springs is approximately 1 hour one way, and be sure to check the shuttle schedules in advance as they may vary throughout the day.

Once you're on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing trail from the Mangatepopo Road end, follow the well-marked path. After about 1 hour of walking, you'll arrive at Soda Springs.
