If you're driving, start by heading towards National Park Village from any location in Manawatu-Wanganui. The Ridge Walking Track is located near Whakapapa Village in the Tongariro National Park. From National Park Village, take the SH47 road towards Whakapapa Village. Follow the signs for Tongariro National Park. The Ridge Track car park is well signposted. Parking may be free, but check local signs for any applicable fees.

If you're using public transportation, take a bus from Palmerston North to National Park Village. The bus services can be checked on the InterCity website. Once in National Park Village, you can catch a local shuttle or taxi to Whakapapa Village. The Ridge Walking Track is accessible from the Whakapapa Village area. Be sure to confirm the shuttle service in advance and inquire about any fares.
