From Wellington's central bus station, take the bus route #110 towards Upper Hutt. The journey will take approximately 45 minutes. You will need to get off at the Upper Hutt Station stop. From there, transfer to bus route #112 towards Akatarawa Valley. This bus will take you directly to a stop near Staglands Wildlife Reserve. After getting off the bus, walk for about 10 minutes along Akatarawa Road until you reach the entrance of Staglands Wildlife Reserve & Café.

Catch a train from Wellington Railway Station to Upper Hutt. The train ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Upper Hutt Station, exit the station and look for bus route #112 towards Akatarawa Valley. This bus will take you directly to the stop near Staglands Wildlife Reserve. After disembarking, walk for approximately 10 minutes on Akatarawa Road until you reach the entrance of Staglands Wildlife Reserve & Café.
