Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from the center of Rio San Juan, head north on the main road (Carretera a San Carlos) towards San Carlos. After approximately 30 minutes, you will reach the entrance to the Los Guatuzos Wildlife Refuge. From there, you will need to take a dirt road towards the Rio Papaturro. Follow the signs for Cabañas Caiman. The journey will take about 15-20 minutes on this road, and you may encounter some rough patches, so drive cautiously.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Cabañas Caiman using public transportation, start at the main bus terminal in Rio San Juan. Take a bus headed towards San Carlos. The fare is typically around 30-50 Cordobas. Inform the driver you are going to Los Guatuzos. After about 30 minutes, ask to be dropped off near the entrance of Los Guatuzos Wildlife Refuge. From there, you can either walk about 15-20 minutes along the dirt road to reach Cabañas Caiman or arrange for a local taxi to take you directly (which may cost around 100-150 Cordobas).

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct option, you can hire a taxi from anywhere in Rio San Juan. Simply ask the driver to take you to Cabañas Caiman, located at Rio Papaturro in San Carlos. The ride should take around 30-40 minutes and will generally cost between 300-500 Cordobas, depending on your starting point and negotiation with the driver.
