Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Enterprise, Oregon, which is a central point in Wallowa County. Head east on OR-82 E towards Wallowa. After about 16 miles, continue on OR-82 E until you reach the intersection with Forest Road 39 (also known as the Mt. Emily Road). Turn left onto Forest Road 39. The road may be rough, so proceed with caution. Follow Forest Road 39 as it winds through the forest. After approximately 6 miles, you will reach the trailhead for Mt. Emily. Parking is available, but be aware that there may not be facilities. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks for your hike.
Public Transportation
While public transportation options are limited in Wallowa County, you can take the Wallowa Union Railroad (if operational) from Joseph to Enterprise. Once you arrive in Enterprise, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Forest Road 39. This may require some planning ahead, so check the schedule for the train and make sure you have a way to contact a local taxi service. The taxi ride from Enterprise to the trailhead will take approximately 30 minutes, and costs may vary, so confirm with the driver before starting your journey.
