Follow US-22 W for approximately 20 miles until you reach the junction with I-70 W. Merge onto I-70 W and continue for about 15 miles. Take the exit for PA-43 S, which will lead you towards the Monongahela River. Follow the signs for Monongahela and you will arrive at the river, which is located at the coordinates 39.9504343, -79.9949266. Parking is available near the river and may incur a small fee depending on the area you choose.

    Public Transportation

    To reach the Monongahela River using public transportation, start by finding a local bus or train that services the Anthracite Coal Region. You can take a bus to the nearest major transit hub, such as the Hazleton Transit Center. From Hazleton, take the LANTA bus service to Allentown, where you can transfer to a larger bus service that goes towards Pittsburgh.
