From the city center of Coimbra, start at Praça da República. Head south towards Avenida Sá da Bandeira and go straight until you reach the intersection with Rua da Sofia. Turn right onto Rua da Sofia and continue straight until you reach the Jardim Botânico de Coimbra (Botanical Garden). This is a great point of reference. After enjoying the garden, exit through the main gate and head towards the river. Cross the bridge over the Mondego River (Ponte Pedro e Inês) and continue along the riverbank promenade. Keep walking along the path until you see signs for Choupal National Forest, which will be to your right. Follow the signs, and you will reach the entrance of Choupal National Forest.

To reach Choupal National Forest by bike, rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Coimbra. Start at Praça da República and ride south along Avenida Sá da Bandeira. Continue until you reach the intersection with Rua da Sofia, turn right, and head toward the Jardim Botânico de Coimbra. Once you exit the garden, follow the path that leads down to the river. Bike along the riverbank on the designated cycle path until you see signs for Choupal National Forest. The ride will take you directly to the entrance of the forest, where you can lock your bike and explore.

To reach Choupal National Forest using public transportation, start at the main bus station in Coimbra, located near the city center. Look for bus lines heading towards 'Cernache' or 'Lousã'. Get on a bus that stops near the 'Choupal' stop. The journey will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Once you get off at 'Choupal', follow the signs that indicate Choupal National Forest. The entrance will be a short walk from the bus stop.
