If you're driving from the central Douro Valley, make your way to the N-222 road, which runs along the Douro River. Head towards Peso da Régua, and then take the N-313 exit towards Porto. Continue on the N-313 until you reach the roundabout, where you'll take the second exit onto the A4 motorway heading towards Porto. After approximately 15 km, take the exit towards Porto (A1). Follow the signs for A1 and continue for about 10 km. Take the exit for Custoias and merge onto Rua de Custoias. Continue straight until you reach the Ponte de São João, which is well signposted.
