Getting There

Walking
From the Ribeira waterfront, head up the Rua de Infante D. Henrique. You'll find yourself walking towards the heart of the city. Keep going straight until you reach the intersection with Rua do Ouro, where you will want to turn left. Continue on Rua do Ouro until it merges with Rua de São João. At this point, keep an eye out for the signs directing you toward Miradouro do Passeio das Fontainhas. Follow the path as it winds uphill, and you’ll come to a set of stairs leading up to the viewpoint. The total walking time from Ribeira should take around 15-20 minutes.

Public Transport - Tram
If you prefer to use public transport, you can take the historic tram line 22 (the 'Eléctrico') from the nearest stop, which is located at the end of the Ribeira area. Board the tram going towards Carmo. The tram ride will take about 5-10 minutes. Get off at the stop named 'Carmo'.
