Public Transport
From Faro city center, walk to the Faro Bus Station located at Avenida da República. Take the bus number 16 towards 'Faro - Estoi'. This bus runs every 30 minutes. Ride the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the stop 'Estação de Comboios de Faro'. From there, transfer to the train station and take a regional train towards 'Viana do Castelo'. The train ride will take around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Viana do Castelo, exit the train station and walk towards the nearest bus stop to catch a local bus to the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus located at Monte de Santa Luzia, which is approximately a 15-minute ride.

Walking
If you prefer to walk, from the city center of Faro, head towards the waterfront and follow the signs to the marina. Continue along the waterfront until you reach the end of the marina, where you will see a path leading towards the train station. From the train station, take the train to Viana do Castelo as mentioned previously. Once you arrive at Viana do Castelo, you will need to find your way to the Sanctuary on foot. The Sanctuary is situated on a hill, so follow the signs for 'Monte de Santa Luzia' as you walk uphill for approximately 20-30 minutes.

Bicycle
For those who enjoy cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the many rental shops in Faro. Begin your journey towards the train station, then follow the bike paths leading towards Viana do Castelo via the coastal road. The ride may take around 2-3 hours depending on your speed, and you will be treated to beautiful views along the way. Upon arrival in Viana do Castelo, you can park your bicycle and walk to the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is about a 20-minute walk uphill.
