Walking
From the center of Guimarães, head towards the Guimarães train station (Estação de Guimarães). Once you reach the station, exit the station and walk towards Rua de São Domingos. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Avenida de Dom João IV. Walk along this avenue for about 1 km until you reach the bus station (Terminal Rodoviário de Guimarães). From the bus station, take a bus to Porto. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at the Porto bus station, follow the signs to the metro station (Estação de Campo 24 de Agosto). Take the metro Line D (yellow line) towards Santo Ovídio. Get off at the stop 'Bolhão' and transfer to Line A (blue line) towards Senhor de Matosinhos. Get off at the 'Aliados' station and exit towards Praça da Batalha. You will see the São João National Theater directly in front of you.

Public Transport
From Guimarães, go to the Estação de Guimarães and catch the train to Porto (Comboios de Portugal). It takes about 1 hour to reach the 'São Bento' train station in Porto. Once you arrive at São Bento station, exit the station and walk towards Avenida dos Aliados. Continue straight until you reach Praça da Batalha. The São João National Theater is located right at this square, and you will see it upon arrival.
