Metro
If you're starting from the city center, head to the nearest metro station, São Bento. Take the Line D (Yellow line) towards Hospital de São João. Get off at the next stop, Trindade. From Trindade station, transfer to Line A (Blue line) towards Senhor de Matosinhos. Ride for just one stop and disembark at the next station, which is Aliados. Once you exit Aliados station, walk straight ahead towards Avenida dos Aliados. Continue on this avenue until you reach the roundabout, then take the first exit onto Rua de Camões. After a short walk, you will find Praça Dom João I on your left.

Walking
If you prefer walking, start at the iconic São Bento railway station. Exit the station and turn left onto Rua de 31 de Janeiro. Continue straight until you reach Avenida dos Aliados. From here, walk down Avenida dos Aliados towards the roundabout. Once you reach the roundabout, take the first exit onto Rua de Camões. Continue walking straight, and after a few minutes, you will arrive at Praça Dom João I, which will be on your left.

To reach Praça Dom João I via bus, head to the nearest bus stop at Avenida dos Aliados. Look for bus lines 201 or 300 which will take you towards the city center. Get off at the stop named 'Praça da Liberdade'. From there, walk straight ahead on Rua do Almada and take the first right onto Rua de Camões. Continue along this road, and you will see Praça Dom João I on your left.
