Once you reach the riverside promenade (Cais da Ribeira), turn left and continue walking along the river. After approximately 15 minutes, you will see the Forte de São João Baptista on your right, situated at the end of the promenade.

    If you prefer to take public transport, you can catch the bus number 500 from Foz do Douro. Board the bus at the stop 'Foz' on Avenida de Montevideu. The bus will take you directly to the stop 'Forte de São João Baptista', which is a short walk from the entrance of the fort. The bus fare is around €2.00 and tickets can be purchased on board.

    For a scenic route, you can walk to the 'Pinhais da Foz' funicular station located on Rua dos Pinhais. Take the funicular down to the riverside.
