From the center of Viana do Castelo, start at Praça da República. Head northwest on Rua da Bandeira towards Rua do Comércio. Continue straight until you reach Avenida dos Combatentes da Grande Guerra. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Av. de São Sebastião. Walk along this avenue until you reach the base of Monte de Santa Luzia. Look for the signs indicating the funicular railway (Elevador de Santa Luzia) which will take you up to the Igreja de Santa Luzia. The funicular station is located at the foot of the hill, and the ride offers beautiful views of the city.

Once you arrive at the funicular station at the base of Monte de Santa Luzia, purchase a ticket for the short ride up the hill. The funicular will take you directly to the top where the Igreja de Santa Luzia is located. The ride is about 5 minutes long and provides stunning views of Viana do Castelo along the way.
